Improve your clinical decision-making skills regarding the appropriate management of refractory venous ulcers and other chronic wounds.

At the completion of this lesson, the participant should be better able to:

  1. identify and effectively manage patients who have venous ulcers of the lower extremities;
  2. discuss the advantages and disadvantages of, as well as the indications and contraindications for, various therapies used in the management of venous ulcers;
  3. utilize the recommended techniques for wound preparation and application of the human skin equivalent (Apligraf®);
  4. understand factors that may influence reapplication of Apligraf, including the appearance of the wound at various times post-treatment.
